ABERDEEN, MD - The Spinners (29-26) returned from the All-Star break with a trip to Maryland to take on the IronBirds (24-31).
Aberdeen came out of the gate hot, scoring five runs in 1.1 innings off of starting pitcher Taylor Ahearn. He surrendered a home run, five hits, and a pair of walks.
The bullpen dominated for the rest of the game with 6.2 innings of shutout ball between five pitchers. Logan Browning stuck out with six strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief.
Korby Batesole, fresh off a solid performance in the New York-Penn League All-Star game, got the seventh inning started with a single. Jonathan Ortega singled as well and both runners advanced to scoring position on a wild pitch. Xavier LeGrant, also fresh off the All-Star game, drove in Batesole on a grounder and Grant Williams brought in Ortega to make it 5-2.
With the loss, the Spinners drop their second straight game. Right-hander Jose Gonzalez takes the hill for Lowell Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
