Coming off a pair of back-to-back wins, the Spinners (30-35) came in to the night hoping to take the second game of three against the Staten Island Yankees (41-25).
Jake Thompson got the start for Lowell and looked strong with four strikeouts in only two innings of work. He allowed an earned run, two hits, and a walk.
Dakota Smith took over with five innings of solid relief. He struck out five, walked none, allowed seven hits and a pair of earned runs to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.
The pitching staff continued to keep the game close when Devon Fisher shut the door with three strikeouts and two perfect innings of work.
The offense mustered three hits on the evening while drawing four walks.
