Allez Cuisine! Submit Recipes for 2012 Contest
The victory prize pack includes more than just menu billing. The top chef with the winning big bite also receives a prize pack with tickets, logo'd gear, free exposure to more than 200,000 baseball fans, a one year advertising package from MyrtleBeachRestaurantNews.com, and some cooking swag from the website.
So here's how it works...if you're a local chef at a diner, drive-in or dive, a sweet genius, a master of everyday Italian, a galloping gourmet or connoisseur of any kind of cuisine, put together your best ballpark recipe. Regional flair, off the wall and outside the box thinking are encouraged. Make sure the dish can retail for $10 or less and the food costs are 30-45%. Then email that recipe to Pelicans Director of Food and Beverage Brad Leininger at [email protected] no later than March 9th.
Five finalists will be selected from all entrants, judged on creativity, cost, taste, presentation/appearance and viable application in a baseball environment. The five finalists will then be invited to Pelicans Ballpark for a throwdown challenge. Judges will again evaluate entries on the previous five criteria.
Last year's winning entry came from Captain John's Seafood Grill on Pawley's Island. John Venuti's Signature Lobster Roll found a home at the Pelicans Ballpark concession stands and in the Pelicans Ballpark restaurant for 2011.
Potential participants interested in seeing a menu of items currently served at Pelicans Ballpark can email Brad Leininger at [email protected]. One entry per person/restaurant.
Pelicans Season tickets, Flex Books and Mini-Plans for the 2012 Pelicans season are on sale now at the team's Pelicans Ballpark offices or by calling (843) 918-6000. Normal box office hours are Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm. The Pelicans open the 2012 at home against the Wilmington Blue Rocks, Friday, April 6th, at 7:05 pm.
