Bats Fall to Indians 9-7

Bradenton, FL - The Indianapolis Indians defeated the Louisville Bats 9-7 on Friday afternoon in exhibition baseball.

Homer Bailey started for Louisville and went 4 1/3 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits. Ricky Stone allowed two runs in 1 2/3 innings of work and Gary Majewski gave up one run in an inning of work. Brian Shackelford and Brad Salmon each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Offensively, Jeff Bannon led the way, going 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Joey Votto was 2-for-5 with an RBI and Jesse Gutierrez went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

The Bats play an intrasquad game against Chattanooga on Saturday at the Reds Minor League Complex in Sarasota before finishing there exhibition schedule on Sunday at Twin Lakes Park in Sarasota against the Norfolk Tides.
