The Wilmington Blue Rocks have released their schedule for the 2013 Carolina League season, their 21st year in the loop and 19th as a Kansas City Royals affiliate. The Blue Rocks open their season on the road for the ninth time in 10 seasons with a seven-game swing through the Carolinas. The campaign begins on April 4 in South Carolina against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Texas Rangers) with the first of a four-game set followed by a three-game series in North Carolina against the Carolina Mudcats (Cleveland Indians). Frawley Stadium will see its first action of 2013 on April 12 when Wilmington hosts the Frederick Keys (Baltimore Orioles) at 7:05 p.m.

Thirteen fireworks games are on tap for the 2013 season. The Blue Crew's Fireworks Friday tradition continues, as every home Friday will feature postgame fireworks. The full list of explosions in the sky includes: April 12, 26; May 17, 31; June 14, 21, 28; July 12, 13, 26; August 9, 17, 31.
The Rocks will play 11 home games the entire month of April. But when the weather warms up, the Carolina League's northernmost city will see a lot more action. The Blue Crew hosts a dozen games during the month of May, 16 in June, 15 in July, 14 in August and two in September. An amazing 34 of the team's 70 home games will be played on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, making it all the easier for mom, dad and the kids to experience Blue Rocks baseball.
The Carolina League's best will meet their California League counterparts for the 2013 All-Star Game on Tuesday, June 18. The California League's San Jose Giants will host the exhibition at Municipal Stadium. San Jose will serve as host for the first time since 1985 and for the first time ever at Municipal Stadium. The game will be the signature event of festivities that will include a home run derby and other related activities. The 2013 clash will be the 17th contest between the two Advanced-A leagues.
