Chatwood Dominates in Quakes' Third Straight Win

June 12, 2010
San Bernardino, CA - Tyler Chatwood dominated over eight scoreless innings and Gabe Jacobo enjoyed his second straight four-RBI game, as the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes shut out the Inland Empire 66ers, winning 5-0 on Friday night at Arrowhead Credit Union Park in San Bernardino.

Jacobo blasted his fourth homer in the last two games, a three-run shot in the first to put the Quakes up 4-0 against Dodgers' rehabber Charlie Haeger (2-3).

The Quakes added another in the fifth, as Jacobo struck again. With Darwin Perez at second, Jacobo singled to center to make it 5-0, capping his second straight four-RBI game and giving him a team-high 52.

Chatwood (8-2) allowed just two hits over eight innings. The right-hander didn't allow a single walk, fanning six batters and facing just two over the minimum over his eight innings of work. The California League-All-Star's eighth win of the year is tops in the league.

Christian Scholl allowed a two-out double to Nick Buss in the ninth, but came back to fan Tommy Giles to complete the three-hit shut-out, the Quakes' league-leading fifth of the year.

With Lake Elsinore's 7-6 win over Lancaster on Friday night, the Quakes (36-26) remain six games back with just eight to go in the first half.

Manny Flores (1-2) makes his first start for the Quakes since coming back from Double-A Arkansas, as he throws on Saturday night. Ethan Martin (5-5) will go for Inland Empire, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm.

The Quakes return from their current seven-game road trip on Monday, June 14th, opening a six-game home stand with Grand Slam Monday. If a Quakes' player hits a Grand Slam on Monday night, then one Quakes' fan will win $1000. The upcoming home stand also includes a Terra Vista Animal Hospital "Bark in the Ballpark", a Buffalo Wild Wings Thirsty Thursday, a $1 Family Feast Night and a Saturday Night Fireworks Spectacular!
