Chiefs broadcasts to be carried on WHEN

October 22, 2007
SYRACUSE (NY) - The Syracuse Chiefs announced today that SportsRadio 620 WHEN will be the new radio home of the team starting with the 2008 season. Chiefs games that conflict with broadcasts of the New York Yankees will be aired on Nova 105.1 FM.

Chiefs broadcasts are returning to WHEN for the first time since the 2001 season. Since 1934, the Chiefs and WHEN have partnered together for a total of 17 seasons. The last time that Chiefs games were broadcast on an FM station was 1983.

"We are extremely happy to have our games return to WHEN," said Chiefs General Manager John Simone. "It is the premier sports station in Central New York. Also, to have games on an FM signal helps us to reach markets we previously haven't been able to reach."

In addition to the game broadcasts, the Chiefs' popular weekly show, Inside Pitch, is also moving to WHEN. The show is hosted by play-by-play man Bob McElligott and general manager John Simone. Inside Pitch will air every Saturday morning from 11:00 am - 12:00 noon, starting November 3.

Joel Delmonico, Vice President and Market Manager for ClearChannel Radio in Syracuse, says he's excited to have the Chiefs back on SportsRadio 620 WHEN.

"Chiefs baseball is a strong part of our community and we are thrilled to have them back on WHEN. Programming local sports has always been important to us," he said.

"With improvements at the Stadium, including the addition of a grass field this coming season, we look forward to even more interest in Chiefs' baseball in 2008. We hope to enjoy a solid partnership with the Chiefs for years to come."
