Early-Afternoon Games

Astros 6, Cubs 3 Box »

It's still a few years before Carlos Correa becomes a regular attraction at Minute Maid Park, but last year's No. 1 overall Draft pick impressed the home fans Saturday in the Astros' final Spring Training game. The team's No. 2 prospect went 3-for-4 with an RBI in a 6-3 win over the Cubs, improving to 5-for-11 in limited action.

The 18-year-old shortstop became the first player out of Puerto Rico to be drafted first overall and enters the season ranked 30th on MLB.com's Top 100 Prospects list. The Astros played seven of their Top 20 prospects, with Delino DeShields contributing a pair of base hits and Domingo Santana finishing a home run shy of the cycle.

Late-Afternoon Games

Indians 9, Reds (ss) 1 Box »

Dorssys Paulino made his Major League Spring Training debut for the Indians and did not disappoint. The organization's No. 3 prospect went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored after entering as a pinch-runner. Paulino, an 18-year-old shortstop, has a long way to go before he reaches Cleveland, with only 56 Minor League games under his belt. The son of former big league pitcher Jesus Sanchez could be an impact bat at a key defensive position down the road, however.

  • Billy Hamilton (CIN No. 1): 1-for-3, 1 R, 1 SB
  • Kyle Lotzkar (CIN No. 6): 1 IP

Right-hander Dan Straily will begin the year in the A's rotation, but with Bartolo Colon returning from a 50-game suspension the second week of April, his stay could be short-lived. Oakland's No. 2 prospect made a strong case to stick around Saturday, striking out five over five scoreless innings in a 4-3 win over the Giants. Colon hurled the final four frames, allowing three runs -- two earned -- on three hits with six strikeouts.

  • Dan Straily (OAK No. 2): 5 IP, 6 H, 5 K, W
