Fifth-ranked Dodgers prospect Andy Pages hammered a go-ahead two-run homer to ignite a seven-run eighth inning and punch the Desert Dogs' ticket into Friday's play-in game. It was the fifth big fly in the desert for MLB's No. 66 overall prospect, just one behind league leaders Tyler Hardman (Yankees) and Matt Mervis (Cubs). Pages tacked on another RBI single to cap the scoring during that decisive frame, bringing his slash line to .296/.398/.506 with 14 RBIs in 22 games this fall. Glendale also got a solo homer from No. 8 Dodgers prospect Jose Ramos, an RBI groundout by No. 29 White Sox prospect Adam Hackenberg and a two-run single from No. 14 Twins prospect Edouard Julien to help pull away from Mesa. Tenth-ranked A’s prospect Denzel Clarke delivered a two-run double and reached base three times for the Solar Sox. No. 18 Reds prospect Rece Hinds skied his third AFL homer and first since Oct. 13. Parker Meadows broke a ninth-inning tie with a leadoff homer, the No. 16 Tigers prospect's third of the campaign, to put the Rafters up for good. The dinger was Meadows’ second clutch swing of the afternoon, as he also knocked an RBI single in the fourth to knot the game, 2-2. The outfielder has caught fire of late; three of his four hits over his past two games have gone for extra bases, and two have left the yard. He has five RBIs over that span after collecting only two through his first 21 games on the circuit. Detroit’s No. 25 prospect Tyler Mattison followed Meadows’ heroics with his first AFL save, striking out three of the four batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth. Their efforts helped erase a strong start for the Scorpions, as Bryce Teodosio (Angels) doubled in a run in the first frame and No. 15 Red Sox prospect Thad Ward opened with three scoreless innings to drop his ERA to 2.84.
