Early outburst helps Tides double up Charlotte

July 7, 2009
Norfolk plated four runs in the first and three more in the second to cruise to an 8-4 win at Charlotte Tuesday night.

The Tides sent eight men to the plate and collected four hits in the opening frame, then followed that up with three more runs in the second on a three-run homer by Jolbert Cabrera. Cabrera has now homered in back-to-back games, driving in seven over that span.

Justin Christian helped pace Norfolk's offensive attack with four base hits, while Brandon Snyder added two hits and two runs knocked in.

Jake Arrieta (2-2) earned the win as he allowed four runs on seven hits in 6.1 innings of work. The 23-year-old struck out eight and now leads all Orioles minor leaguers with eight victories this season.

Josh Perrault, just up from Double-A Bowie, struck out the side in a scoreless inning of relief in his Norfolk Tides debut.

The Tides and Knights will continue their three-game series on Wednesday night, with first pitch from Knights Stadium scheduled for 7:15.
