Estevez Tosses Five No-Hit Innings, But Suns Fall 7-4

Lakewood, NJ - The Hagerstown Suns (6-5) held a 3-0 lead through five innings but the Lakewood Blue Claws (5-6) rallied for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and went on to beat Hagerstown, 7-4, and win the series three-games-to-one.

Suns starting pitcher Wirkin Estevez dealt a no-hitter through five innings before allowing a lead-off single in the sixth inning. Estevez was charged with three runs on three hits, two walks and five strike outs in 5.2 innings for a no-decision. Lone reliever Todd Simko (0-1) suffered the loss, giving up four runs on six hits over 2.2 innings.

Shortstop Jason Martinson went 1-for-3 in the game with a triple, RBI and his league leading 13th walk of the year. Brett Newsome hit his second home run of the season, a pinch-hit solo shot in the fifth inning, while Matt Skole notched his 15th RBI and continues to lead the league in that category.

Blue Claws starter Lino Martinez (2-0) won the game going six innings, allowing three runs on five hits, one walk and five strike outs. After Ryan Sasaki allowed a single run in his 1.2 innings of work, Lakewood closer Ryan Duke pitched a perfect ninth inning for his league-high third save of the season.

Catcher Logan Moore's three-run double in the sixth inning was the big hit of the game and capped a six-run rally for the Blue Claws in the frame. Moore finished the game 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. Designated hitter Chris Duffy also doubled for the winners and drove in two runs.

The Suns continue their seven-game road trip with a three-game set against the Delmarva Shorebirds (Orioles) on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Hagerstown will send right-hander Brian Dupra (0-2) to the mound against the Shorebirds' Miguel Chalas (1-0).
