Hall of Famer Rod Carew to Headline Owlz First Pitch Dinner

The Orem Owlz are pleased and excited to announce that all time great Rod Carew as the featured speaker at the 4th Annual Owlz First Pitch Dinner. The event will take place on Wednesday April 6th at Noah's in Lindon beginning at 7:00 PM.

"Having an all-time hero, role model and Hall of Famer like Rod Carew join us in Utah County is an honor and a privilege," said Owlz majority owner Jeff Katofsky. "I can't wait."

In his twelve seasons with the Minnesota Twins, and seven with the California Angels, Carew amassed 3,053 hits and had a lifetime batting average of .328, with 15 consecutive seasons batting over .300. He is one of only three players (Willie Mays, and Cal Ripken Jr.) to have won both the Rookie of the Year (1967), the Most Valuable Player (1977), and induction into baseball's Hall of Fame (1991) on his first year of eligibility. His number 29 has been retired by both the Twins and the Angels.

"For all baseball fans in Utah, this will be an event you will not want to miss", said Jason Badell, Owlz General Manager.

All tickets for this event include a three-course dinner, catered by Magleby's, and can be purchased individually for $75 or a table of 10 can be purchased for $600. There will be special offers for Owlz season ticket holders. Tickets at the door will be $100, based on availability. Carew will be available for autographs and pictures from 6:00-7:00 p.m. A formal speaking program will be begin at 7:00 p.m. at which time Carew will be joined by Abe Flores, the Los Angeles Angels Director of Player Development, in addressing those in attendance.

There will be a silent auction held during the event that will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Utah County. Silent auction items will include autographed memorabilia from former MLB players, current Angel players and former Owlz players.
