Legends' Altuve named SAL Player of the Week

June 15, 2010
(APPLEBEE'S PARK, Lexington, Ky.) Lexington Legends second baseman Jose Altuve has been named South Atlantic League Player of the Week for June 7-13, SAL President Eric Krupa announced Monday.

For the week, Altuve batted .368 (7-for-19) with a double, a triple, three home runs and seven runs batted in. He also scored seven runs and stole two bases.

"Jose has been doing it for us all year long, and this week he was particularly impressive," said Legends General Manager Andy Shea. "We're fortunate to have a guy like Jose on our team who can do well in all aspects of the game."

Altuve was named earlier this month to the South Atlantic League Southern Division All-Star team, along with Lexington teammates J.D. Martinez, Kody Hinze and Kirk Clark. The All-Star game will be played June 22 in Greenville, South Carolina.
