Patton solid again, but Tides fall 2-1

Troy Patton allowed one earned run in six innings of work, but Norfolk fel to Charlotte 2-1 Wednesday afternoon at Knights Stadium.

Patton (5-9) allowed five hits and two walks while striking out two to lower his ERA to 4.84. The southpaw now has a 2.88 ERA over his last seven outings.

Josh Bell had two singles to lead the Tides, who managed just four hits off of three Charlotte pitchers.

Princess Anne High School and Old Dominion product Dan Hudson (11-3) earned the win with six shutout innings of work.

The two clubs will continue a seven-game home-and-home series Thursday night at Harbor Park, with first pitch scheduled for 7:15. Highly touted prospect Zach Britton is scheduled to make his Triple-A debut for the Tides against RHP Carlos Torres (6-5, 3.04).
