The Renegades took an early one-run lead in the first. Derek Dietrich hit a ball off the wall in left. He got to second, when IronBirds left-fielder Blair Dunlap misplayed the ball, allowing him to get to third. Steve Tinoco knocked him in with an RBI-single making it 1-0.

Hudson Valley extended the lead in the second. Elias Otero hit a one-out single. Burt Reynolds drove him in with an RBI-double. Alejandro Torres then knocked in Reynolds with an RBI-single. Brian Bryles then singled and Robby Price walked, loading the bases. Dio Luis lifted a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Torres, and giving Hudson Valley a 4-0 lead.

Aberdeen tied the ball game in the fifth. Joel Polanco led off the inning with a double. A batter later Dunlap worked a walk. With two men down, Joe Oliveira doubled off the left field wall, scoring Polanco, and putting the IronBirds on the scoreboard. Trent Mummey then hit a two-run single, pulling the IronBirds to within one. Austin Knight then reached on a fielding error by the Renegades shortstop Luis. Sammie Starr knocked in Mummey from second with a single, tying the game.

Luis redeemed himself in the bottom of the fifth. He launched a solo home run to left field. His first round-tripper of the season gave the Renegades a 5-4 lead.

IronBirds starting pitcher Tyler Sexton exited after the fifth. He allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits. He walked two and struck out three.

Blake Mechaw entered the game in the sixth. The Renegades loaded the bases on two walks and a single. Mechaw then walked Luis to knock in a run and make it a 6-4 game. Jose Barajas was brought in to relieve Mechaw. With the bases loaded, he walked Steve Tinoco to knock in another run. Nick Schwarner then hit a tapper in front of the plate. Oliveira picked it up and attempted to tag out Price, who was trying to score. He dropped the ball after applying the tag, allowing the run to score. Phil Wunderlich then lifted a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Luis from third, and giving Hudson Valley a 9-4 lead.
