Rodriguez and Tovar Win Awards

Aderlin Rodriguez and Orlando Tovar were honored as the Kingsport Mets hitter and pitcher of the year before the Sunday August 29 game against the Bristol White Sox. Javier Rodriguez was also reconized for making the 2010 All Appalachian League Team. The KMets, the rookie Appalachian League affiliate of the New York Mets, are finishing up their 30th year of operation this summer.

Aderlin Rodriguez has been a consistent producer in the middle of the lineup this season. The 18 year old third baseman is third in the Appy League with 13 home runs and 48 RBI's. In addition his team leading .555 slugging percentage is 4th in the league while his .312 batting is good for 6th.

Tovar, a versatile left hander, has been effective as both a starter and reliever. He sports a perfect record of 4 wins with no losses while carrying a solid 3.43 ERA. Tovar also allowed just 9 walks while strking out 40 batters in 45 innings pitched.

Javier Rodriguez was reconized for his being selected to the All Appalachian League team on last Thursday. The 20 year old outfielder who was the Mets 2nd round draft pick in 2008 leads the team and is 4th in the league with a batting average of .319. Javier is also 2nd on the team with 15 doubles and 2 triples while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 24 runs.

The KMets have two games left in the regular season. Monday August 30th is Free Admission Night while Tuesday August 31st is Krafts Singles Two For Tuesday as well as First Tennessee Bank Employee Night.
