Swartz Named New Broadcaster

Flemming Joins Indianapolis Indians
March 28, 2012
(WOODBRIDGE, VA) The Potomac Nationals are pleased to announce that Tim Swartz has been named as the new radio broadcaster and Director of Media Relations for the 2012 season. Swartz, who spent the 2010 season as the number two broadcaster, returns to Pfitzner Stadium to call the action as the Nationals seek their fourth playoff bid in five years.

"We are really happy that we could bring Tim on as our broadcaster," said Potomac General Manager Josh Olerud. "His experience with our organization, polish on the air and knowledge of baseball all made him a great fit for the ballclub."

Swartz spent the 18 months between his stints in Woodbridge broadcasting for Stanford University and several television networks in the San Francisco Bay Area. A graduate of Syracuse University, Swartz got his start at WJPZ calling Orange sports.

Swartz was brought to Potomac to replace Will Flemming. After two seasons in Potomac, Flemming has been hired as a broadcaster for the Indianapolis Indians, the AAA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

"I am excited for my next challenge in Indianapolis, but I will forever be indebted to the Silber family and to the Potomac Nationals for the opportunity they have given me over the past two seasons," Flemming said. "My heartfelt thanks go out to all the wonderful fans, players and coaches who made this such an amazing ride."

Swartz and the Nationals' front office are in the process of hiring a second broadcaster. When that decision is final, it will be made public on the team's website. The team requests that no other applicants contact the club.

P-Nats fans will have their first chance to hear Swartz behind the microphone next Friday, April 6 when the Nationals open their season in Lynchburg. The home opener is the following Friday, April 13. Individual game tickets and season plans are on sale now, so call the Nationals ticket office at 703-590-2311 to get in on the 2012 action!
