Ten-Run Sixth Stuns the Jammers in Doubledays Win

Auburn, NY-Things were going just as planned for the Jamestown Jammers on Sunday night. Their starting pitcher, Thomas Peale, cruised through five innings, allowing just one hit and one run. Their offense posted a five-run inning for the second night in a row against Doubledays pitching. They led 5-1 through five.

Then, the sixth inning happened.

Matt Skole hit a home run. Angelberth Montilla singled. Caleb Ramsey walked. Roberto Perez doubled in two. Rick Hughes walked. Carlos Alvarez singled in a run. Justin Miller doubled in two more. Matt Skole batted again and walked. Adrian Nieto singled in a run, Montilla doubled in a run, and Ramsey doubled in two more.

When it was all said and done, it was a ten-run sixth for the Doubledays. The obscure ten-run frame was even too much for the scoreboard at Falcon Park, which only allows space for one-digit.

The inning wasn't just too much for the scoreboard, but it was too much for the Jamestown Jammers who never recovered in an 11-9 Doubledays win at Falcon Park.

Travis Henke got the win in relief for the Doubledays, despite giving up four hits in his inning and two-thirds. Frankie Reed, one of four pitchers who pitched in the sixth inning for the Jammers, took the loss for Jamestown. Aaron Barrett pitched a scoreless ninth for Auburn, notching his first save of the year.

Offensively, the Doubledays were paced by Angelberth Montilla's 3 for 5 effort at the plate; the only Doubleday with a multi-hit effort on the evening.

Auburn's win snaps a two-game losing streak and sets up a rubber match Monday in the finale of the three-game set with Jamestown.
