Tides pound out 19 hits in series finale

August 25, 2009
Every Norfolk player had at least one hit as the Tides cruised to a 12-5 win over the Rochester Red Wings Tuesday night.

The Tides tied a season-high with 19 hits in the contest, led by Jeff Fiorentino who tripled and homered and drove in three. Freddy Guzman added three hits for the Tides, who salvaged the finale of their four-game set with the Red Wings.

Brandon Snyder added two doubles in the contest, while Guillermo Rodriguez added two hits and drove home two.

Andy Mitchell (10-5) earned the win in relief for the Tides, as he yielded just one hit and two walks in four shutout innings. The win was Mitchell's 30th career victory in a Tides uniform.

The Tides return home on Wednesday night to start a ten-game homestand, the final homestand of the season. Norfolk will welcome the wild card leading Durham Bulls to Harbor Park, with first pitch slated for 7:15.
