Triple-A roundup: Wilk stifles Tribe

Tigers left-hander Adam Wilk was nearly unhittable, yielding one hit over five innings as the Mud Hens defeated the Indians, 5-1. He struck out six and walked one. Pirates prospect Starling Marte went 1-for-4 in his Triple-A debut, tripling and driving in a run.

Twins lefty Scott Diamond fanned three over 6 1/3 shutout frames and pitched Rochester to a 3-1 win over Syracuse. Nationals phenom Bryce Harper singled and struck out in the losing effort.

Red Sox prospect Will Middlebrooks went 2-for-4, giving him five hits in his first two games for Pawtucket. Mets right-hander Jeurys Familia yielded a run on five hits over 4 2/3 innings in his Triple-A debut but did not last long enough to get the win for Buffalo.

The Braves' Joey Terdoslavich doubled home two runs in the 11th inning, breaking a scoreless tie and sending Gwinnett past Durham, 3-0. Rays southpaw Alexander Torres fanned seven but lasted only 4 1/3 frames.

Big league veterans Matt LaPorta and Lonnie Chisenhall homered as the defending Triple-A champion Clippers recorded their first win of the season. Fellow Major League vet Kevin Slowey allowed a run on two hits over seven innings en route to the victory.

Andres Blanco and Cody Overbeck both drove in two runs for the IronPigs, while John Suomi smacked a solo homer against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Yankees prospect Dellin Betances yielded two runs and struck out six over five innings.

Orioles first baseman Joe Mahoney homered and drove in three runs, but it was not enough to push Norfolk past Charlotte. Dallas McPherson and Hector Gimenez plated two runs apiece for the Knights, who got three hits and a run scored from catcher Josh Phegley.

Marlins third base prospect Matt Dominguez plated the winning run in New Orleans' 2-1, 12-inning triumph over visiting Nashville. In defeat, the Caleb Gindl went 3-for-5 with a double.

Tony Abreu collected three hits and fell a double shy of the cycle, while Vin Mazzaro struck out six over six shutout innings as the Storm Chasers topped Albuquerque, 5-2. The Isotopes' Scott Van Slyke lifted his second longball of the young season.

Former top Mets prospect Fernando Martinezstruck a three-run homer in the first inning as Oklahoma City rolled to a 12-3 romp over Memphis. First baseman Matt Adams went deep in his second straight contest for the Redbirds.

Rangers prospect Martin Perez earned his first win with six strong innings. The left-hander was able to hold down Iowa sluggers Brett Jackson and Anthony Rizzo, who combined for three hits in the Express' 4-3 triumph.

D-backs prospect A.J. Pollock went 5-for-5 out of the leadoff spot and veteran Cody Ransom fell a triple shy of the cycle as Reno held off Colorado Springs. The Sky Sox mustered four ninth-inning runs before falling, 9-5.

Casey Kelly, the Padres' top pitching prospect, allowed three runs on seven hits over six frames in his Triple-A debut but did not figure in Tucson's 4-3 victory over Fresno. Newcomer Yasmani Grandal, who came over in the offseason trade involving pitcher Mat Latos, went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Padres.

Tacoma scored five times in the seventh inning and bested Salt Lake, 8-7, as Carlos Peguero plated three runs, reached base four times and fell a triple short of the cycle. Mike Trout, in his second game as the Bees' designated hitter, singled, doubled and scored in five at-bats.

A's farmhand Jarrod Parker, acquired in an offseason deal with the D-backs, allowed three runs on six hits over six frames in his Triple-A debut. Parker's Sacramento River Cats lost to Las Vegas, 4-3, as Travis Snider smacked a two-run homer off Parker to complete a 2-for-4 night.
