Troy Tulowitzki & Jason Giambi to Join Drillers Friday
The rehab appearance will mark Tulowizki's fourth time as a member of the Drillers squad. He was the everyday shortstop for Tulsa in 2006 and earned a Texas League All-Star selection. The former 1st round pick was promoted straight to the majors late in the 2006 Texas League season.
Tulowitzki has also had two previous rehab assignments with Tulsa, playing as a Driller in 2008 for five games and again in 2010 for two games.
Giambi will make his first appearance in a Double A baseball game since playing for the Huntsville Stars (Oakland A's) in 1994. The 41-year old has played for 17 years in the majors and has racked up 429 career home runs and 1,405 RBIs. Giambi won the 2000 AL MVP award, as well as the 2005 AL Comeback Player of the Year Award.
The two big leaguers are expected to remain with the Drillers through the rest of the team's current homestand that runs through Monday, August 27.
Tickets for all the games, including the 2012 regular season finale, are now on sale at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office at 201 N. Elgin Ave. and at TulsaDrillers.com. Tickets are also available by calling (918)744-5901.
