ALTOONA, Pa. -- The Altoona Curve announced that the team's longest-tenured employee, Jason Dambach, has stepped down from his post as the club's Director of Broadcasting and Communications.
Dambach is leaving the Curve after a decade of dedicated service to take a position with the newly formed Greenberg Sports Group.
The 32-year old Dambach has been in the Altoona Curve broadcast booth full-time since 2000. Shortly after graduating from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 1999, he was a broadcast intern with the organization during their inaugural season.
"I'm going to miss it," Dambach said. "And not just miss doing radio, but miss doing radio for the Altoona Curve. ... It's been my whole career. Right out of college I started doing that, and 10 years later I feel like I owe a lot to a lot of people."
From 1999-2004, Dambach worked alongside current Curve general manager Rob Egan, calling games.
"Jason's growth since joining the Curve during our first season was a testament to his hard work, attention to detail, and passion for what he did," said Egan. "His efforts helped the club receive excellent exposure locally, regionally, and nationally. Both personally and professionally, I thank Jason and wish him well in his new venture."
During the 2005-07 Curve seasons, Dambach worked alongside Pittsburgh Penguins' television broadcaster Paul Steigerwald. The duo called the 2006 UPMC Eastern League All Star game at Blair County Ballpark on FSN Pittsburgh.
Dambach's broadcasting abilities were recognized by the Pittsburgh Pirates in November. In their exhaustive search for a new play-by-play voice, Dambach made the final cut of ten from a pool of over 200 applicants.
In addition to calling more games than any other broadcaster in Curve history, Dambach worked tirelessly to successfully and consistently garner national, regional and local exposure for the organization and was a key component in shaping the club's current reputation in the sports industry.
Doubling as the team's Communications Director, "JD" also wrote and produced the team's annual media and information guide, maintained the team's official website, www.AltoonaCurve.com, and wrote press releases among many other duties.
An announcement regarding the Curve's broadcasting and communications department is expected to come early next week.
