Williams named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week

A Rattler wins a weekly award for the third week in a row

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers are riding high before heading out on a long road trip. The Midwest League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers won their fourth straight game by beating the Kane County Cougars 7-4 to maintain their lead in the Western Division. The team also continued another streak on Monday. Pitcher Mark Williams became the third Timber Rattlers player in as many weeks to win a weekly MWL award.

Williams won the Midwest League's Pitcher of the Week award today for his performance during the week of May 14 through May 20. Last week, Williams went 1-0 in a pair of games as a reliever. He pitched nine scoreless innings, allowed one hit, walked four, and struck out seven to win the award.

Infielder Greg Hopkins started the awards streak for the Rattlers on May 7 when he was named the Midwest League's Hitter of the Week. The league named pitcher Andy Moye as the Pitcher of the Week on May 14.

Wisconsin is off on Tuesday before starting a 13-game trip from May 23 through June 4 that will take them from Quad Cities to Peoria to Cedar Rapids to Beloit. The Timber Rattlers next home game is Wednesday, June 6 when they start a series with the Clinton LumberKings.
