Bichette's Four Hits Lead 'Cats To Win In Portland

Bo's first 4-hit game of the year and a Panas homer lead NH to 5-3 triumph over Sea Dogs

PORTLAND, ME - Bo Bichette had his first four-hit game of the season and Connor Panas homered to give theNew Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays) a 5-3 win over the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) on Friday night at Hadlock Field.

Tayler Saucedo (W, 1-1) , making just his second start at Double-A, earned his first win. He worked into the sixth inning, allowing five hits and two runs (one earned). Saucedo walked two and struck out five. Zach Jackson, Danny Young and Travis Bergen worked in relief with Bergen nailing down his first save by securing the final four outs.
New Hampshire (50-39) scored twice in the top of the first inning. Bichette doubled and Panas homered for a 2-0 lead.   The Fisher Cats extended the lead to 4-0 in the second inning. Jon Berti walked and Eduard Pinto singled. Dalton Pompey reached on an error as Berti scored and Bichette delivered an RBI single for New Hampshire.
Portland (35-54) scored a run in the bottom of the third inning. Jeremy Rivera reached on an error, moved to second on a single by Danny Mars, scoring on a base hit by Michael Chavis to make it 4-1.
New Hampshire made it 5-1 in the top of the fourth inning. Pompey walked, stole second and scored on a single by Bichette.
Jordan Betts led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a home run which cleared the Maine Monster. The Sea Dogs cut the lead to two with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Tate Matheny doubled and Austin Rei was hit by pitch. Nick Lovullo ripped a single to draw Portland to within 5-3.
Teddy Stankiewicz (L, 5-8) allowed five runs (three earned) in seven innings but suffered the loss.
The teams meet again on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. New Hampshire sends RHP T. J. Zeuch (6-3, 3.21) to the hill while RHP Mike Shawaryn (4-7, 3.65) starts for Portland. Radio coverage begins at 5:45 PM on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
