Fisher Cats announce second annual Dinner Under the Stars Gala

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Fisher Cats Foundation are pleased to announce the second annual Dinner Under the Stars Gala with our second-year beneficiary Hope for New Hampshire Recovery and new beneficiary Safe Sports Network.

On Thursday, July 28, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., guests will be treated to a spectacular night of live entertainment and delicious food on the field at Delta Dental Stadium. There will be food stations with selections from Celebrations Catering, Pro Sports Catering, The Spot To-Go Food Truck, and more. Guests will dance the night away with music from Mica’s Groove Train, New England’s hottest Funky Soul band. The night caps off with a dazzling Atlas Fireworks show.

“We are excited to host Dinner Under the Stars for the second straight year and once again transform Delta Dental Stadium into a unique dining experience,” Fisher Cats Team President Mike Ramshaw said. “Hope for New Hampshire Recovery and the Safe Sports Network are causes that are close to our hearts, and we are proud to continue supporting them through this special event.”

Hope for NH Recovery is a community center for people in recovery, looking for recovery, new to recovery, or hoping to learn more about recovery from drug or alcohol use. Located in the old Hoitt Furniture Building on 293 Wilson Street, Hope provides a friendly, safe place to relax in recovery and enjoy living a life free of addiction with peer recovery coaching, art, music, writing, and other social activities.

“Hope for New Hampshire Recovery helps save and improve lives,” Executive Director Keith Howard said. “The Fisher Cats’ ongoing support of the work we do is extraordinarily gratifying and further evidence of the club’s commitment to our community. We are pleased to honor Anna Thomas, a true warrior for health in Manchester, at this year’s event, while raising some much-needed funds.”

Thomas is a New Hampshire native and has been with the City of Manchester Health Department for the past 28 years. As Public Health Director, she provides administrative oversight to a comprehensive local health department of 77 full and part time staff with a total budget of over $10 million. In addition, Thomas also served in the United States Army for 16 years as a Medical Service Corps Officer and achieved the rank of Major. She is also a 10-year breast cancer survivor and has served on non-profit boards, foundations and coalitions throughout the state.

The Safe Sports Network (SSN) started in 1989 as access to free sports physicals for high school athletes and has grown into an organization that provides holistic athletic healthcare services for approximately 6,000 youth athletes. SSN strives to provide youth sports safety education to coaches, parents, and athletes in the community and works to prevent injuries and illnesses. When injuries do occur, SSN helps ensure kids have access to professional level athletic healthcare.

“The Fisher Cats obviously recognize how impactful sports can be for young people,” said Amy Hollingworth, the Executive Director of Safe Sports Network. “They understand and appreciate the importance of keeping youth athletes safe, foremost, and of ensuring that all student-athletes have equitable opportunities to thrive through sports.
