Algodoneros: Vencen a Mariachis en el primero de la serie
Torreón, Coah (Prensa Algodoneros) a 14 de julio de 2023.- Con jornada de 4 imparables y dos carreras producidas por parte de Allen Córdoba y una gran reaparición de Joe Van Meter en la loma, los Algodoneros del Unión Laguna vencieron 7 carreras por 3 a los Mariachis de Guadalajara,
Torreón, Coah (Prensa Algodoneros) a 14 de julio de 2023.- Con jornada de 4 imparables y dos carreras producidas por parte de Allen Córdoba y una gran reaparición de Joe Van Meter en la loma, los Algodoneros del Unión Laguna vencieron 7 carreras por 3 a los Mariachis de Guadalajara, para tomar ventaja en la serie en el Estadio de la Revolución.
Luego de que la primera entrada no trajo nada para nadie, en la segunda los Mariachis anotaron la carrera de la quiniela. Vimael Machín conectó doblete al jardín izquierdo y fue producido por Josh Rodríguez, con sencillo a la misma pradera.
Pero Laguna respondió en la parte baja del mismo segundo inning, J.J. Muno pegó doblete al jardín derecho y timbró el empate con imparable de Edgar Robles.
En el tercer capítulo los locales tomaron la ventaja, Allen Córdoba, que se embasó con hit al central, anotó con rodado de sacrificio de Juan Carlos Escarra, quien produjo su primera carrera con la camisola de los Algodoneros. También Jonathan Villar llegó a la registradora con wild pitch, luego de haberse embasado con pasaporte.
En el quinto capítulo, Guadalajara se acercó por la mínima en la pizarra, Randy Romero abrió la tanda con triple a la pradera izquierda y llegó al pentágono con rodado de sacrificio de Oswaldo Arcia.
En el mismo quinto inning, Dean Nevarez se destapó con su quinto cuadrangular de la temporada, se encontró a Escarra en los senderos, para remolcar dos más y poner la pizarra 2-5 a favor de los locales. En la sexta entrada los Guindas agregaron una rayita más con imparable al derecho de Allen Córdoba, quien mandó al home a Edgar Robles con la sexta carrera lagunera.
En la octava los Mariachis atacaron el relevo de José Torres, José Guadalupe Chávez remolcó la tercera carrera de los visitantes con sencillo al jardín del centro y en los spikes de Kennys Vargas. Pero Allen Córdoba produjo la séptima anotación para los de casa, con su cuarto hit de la noche, en los spikes Francisco Hernández.
Joe Van Meter, terminó su labor en el montículo por Laguna luego de 5 entradas completas, donde permitió 6 imparables y dos carreras, dejó el encuentro ganado. Para relevarlo en la loma desfilaron Jeff Ibarra, Rafael Pineda, Jake Jewell, José Torres y Thomas McIlraith, que consiguió su onceavo salvamento de la temporada, retirando los últimos 4 outs del encuentro.
Los laguneros obtuvieron su séptima victoria en 7 juegos ante los Mariachis de Guadalajara en la actual temporada.

Mañana se jugará el segundo encuentro de la serie, iniciará a las 18:00 horas en el Estadio de la Revolución. Por el Unión Laguna, saltará al centro del diamante Luis Gámez (5-3, ERA 4.28). Mientras que, por los tapatíos, el abridor será Javier Solano (4-4, ERA 7.30).
