AUBURN, NY - After a nine month wait to play their first game of the 2019 season, the Auburn Doubledays (0-3) needed to wait a little longer to record the last out. Torrential downpour made Leo Pinckney Field all but unplayable against the visiting State College Spikes (3-1), creating a rain delay which eventually lead to a doubleheader being played on Monday.
Five combined errors during Sunday afternoon's first five innings led to a 6-5 Spikes lead before the game was ultimately called due to the elements. The action bled into the next day for State College, which still had one out to work with in the 2nd inning from the previous night's contest.
The Doubledays answered back with two runs in the bottom of the 2nd to close the gap, but a three-run 3rd inning sealed the Game 1 victory for State College. Galindez surrendered three runs - two of which came off an
Game 2 didn't fare any better for Auburn as the Doubledays quickly fell behind 6-0 over the game's first two innings.
