O'Hoppe Shines in R-Phils loss to Patriots

The Reading Fightin Phils dropped game two to the Somerset Patriots 11-2 on Saturday night. Logan O'Hoppe recorded three hits, while a few others had their first hits of the 2022 campaign. Somerset's Josh Breaux had his second home run of the season when he drilled a ball to deep right.

Reading recorded their first run in the seventh when Jonathan Guzman drove in Wendell Rijo who led off the frame with a base hit. The team added one more in the eighth when top prospect Logan O'Hoppe smashed a ball to left to score Josh Ockimey. Ockimey reached on a double of his own.

Jhailyn Ortiz, Hunter Markwardt, and Rijo all recorded base knocks for their first hits of the season.

Former Fightin Phil Rodolfo Duran drilled a home run to left in his return to FirstEnergy Stadium as a part of the Yankees organization.

Adam Leverett (L, 0-1) got the start, allowing six hits and three earned runs in 3.2 IP. He struck out five in his debut. Mike Adams was first out of the bullpen, giving up five runs on five hits. Matt Seelinger pitched a clean inning and a third and Billy Sullivan followed with one of his own. Bubby Rossman allowed four hits and three runs, but struck out three. Zach Warren got the final out of the game, a fly ball to center field.

The Double-A affiliate of the Phillies will play tomorrow against the Somerset Patriots (Yankees) at 3:15pm to wrap up the series. Come celebrate the beginning of a great summer with us!
