Tocci's Grand Slam Powers Claws to 9-1 Win

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Carlos Tocci's scalding hot start to 2015 continued on Tuesday as he hit his first career grand slam as part of a 9-1 BlueClaws win over Greensboro. 

Tocci, who added a double, went 2-5 and is now 9-24 with eight RBIs over the season's first six games. 

Deivi Grullon and Jiandido Tromp also had two hits for the BlueClaws, who are now 4-2 for the first time in franchise history. 

Greensboro scored first, putting the BlueClaws behind for the sixth time in six games, but Lakewood tied the game in the 3rd inning on a throwing error by Greensboro catcher Rodrigo Vigil which allowed Malquin Canelo to score from third base. 

In the fourth inning, Greensboro starter Michael Mader walked the bases loaded when Tocci hit the grand slam, his third professional home run. 

Mader gave up five runs and six walks in 3.2 innings to fall to 0-2 on the season. 

Lakewood starter Elniery Garcia (1-0) gave up one unearned run over six innings while striking out four to earn the win in his season debut. Alexis Rivero threw two shutout innings and Joey DeNato threw a scoreless 9th for the BlueClaws. 

The BlueClaws first homestand of the year concludes on Wednesday morning at 11:05 am. RHP Ricardo Pinto (0-0, 0.00) starts for Lakewood against Greensboro RHP Jose Adames (0-0, 2.25).
