April 19, 2015

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Montgomery Biscuits (3-6) used rallies in the middle innings to defeat the Jacksonville Suns (5-3) 12-5 Saturday night from Bragan Field.

Hear from Suns Manager David Berg Postgame:

Mikey O'Brien (W, 1-1) in relief for the Biscuits picked up the win manufacturing 4 and 1/3 innings surrendering two hits and striking out three. Suns starter Austin Brice (L, 0-1) lasted 4 and 1/3 innings while relinquishing six earned runs on six hits while walking three and striking out eight.

The scoring began in the top of the first, when the red hot Tyler Goeddel stepped to the plate with two men on, and would deliver a RBI base knock to leap visiting Montgomery in front 1-0 through one inning.

Onto the fourth, a Johnny Field (HR, 1) two-run shot put the Biscuits up 3-0. Moving to the last of the frame, Matt Juengel's RBI double cut the Suns closer now trailing 3-1. A Sharif Othman RBI groundout and a bases loaded walk to Justin Bohn tied the score at three apiece. With Biscuits reliever Mikey O'Brien now in the contest in relief of starter Reinaldo Lopez, Kenny Wilson would cash in with a two-run single to leap the Suns in front 5-3 through four innings of play.

In the fifth frame the Biscuits wasted no time in tying the score. A one-out two RBI single off the bat of Tyler Goeddel knotted the game. That was soon followed by a Johnny Field RBI groundout and a pair of home runs from Tommy Coyle (HR, 1) and Daniel Robertson (HR, 1) two and three-run home runs respectively, setting the score at 11-5 in the Biscuits favor through six innings.

Sliding to the eighth, Montgomery's Johnny Field (HR, 2) ripped his second home run of the contest adding one more and giving his squad a 12-5 scoreboard advantage.
