Buschmann, Pen Lead Bulls Past Buffalo, 1-0

Durham Authors 3rd Shutout In 6 Games Over Bisons

Buffalo, NY --- Matt Buschmann worked six scoreless innings to lead Durahm by Buffalo 1-0 in the season-series finale on Wednesday night.

Buschmann (W, 3-2) allowed five hits and a walk to earn his staff-tying third win. Buschmann pitched around leadoff baserunners in three straight innings, including two innings starting with doubles. Jake McGee, Grant Balfour and Ronald Belisario (S, 6) combined for the final three scoreless innings to close out the victory.

The Bulls (20-14) won the season-series 4-2, including blanking the Bisons (17-16) three times. Buffalo has been shutout nine times already in 2015, including five times by 1-0 scores.

The game's only run scored on a groundout by Mikie Mahtook in the sixth to score Taylor Motter. Motter reached on an infield singl and swiped second. Nick Franklin drew a walk, then folowing a double-steal, Mahtook grounded to the second baseman on the ninth pitch of his at-bat to bring Motter home.

Durham managed a season-low two hits, with Curt Casali picking up the other.

Felix Doubront retired the first 14 hitters of the game in his 2015 debut before Casali's single in the fifth.

The Bulls return home off of a 3-3 road trip, in a virtual first place tie with Charlotte. Scott Diamond (3-0, 2.45) starts the opener of four against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at 7:05 PM at the DBAP.
