RailRiders Rally Past Bulls, Take Series Opener In 10

Bulls Lose 3-0 Lead In 8th; Remain 3 1/2 Back

Scranton, PA --- Ben Gamel singled home Rob Refsnyder in the last of the 10th to lift Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by the Durham Bulls 4-3 on Thursday night at PNC Field.

The Bulls (21-22), who fell 8-7 in 11 innings on Wednesday in Rochester, saw a 3-0 late-game lead evaporate as the Rail Riders (22-20) strung four straight hits against reliever Andrew Bellatti to the the game 3-3.

The series opener remained 0-0 until the sixth when Eugenio Velez doubled home Jake Elmore from first base. Velez doubled in two more in the eighth to give Durham a 3-0 edge.

Bellatti entered after Dylan Floro worked 6 2/3 innings of shiny pitching. Floro permitted a mere two singles, walking none and whiffing five, but received a no-decision for his efforts.

Masahiro Tanaka pitched the first three innings for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a major league rehab assignment for the New York Yankees. Tanaka yielded two hits, including a double to Jake Elmore in the first.

The Bulls continue their road trip with game two of the series against Scranton on Friday night at 7:05 PM ET. Everett Teaford (2-3, 6.28) will oppose Kyle Davies (2-3, 5.17).
