Bees Split Twin Bill

SALT LAKE CITY (June 8) - The Salt Lake Bees and Albuquerque Isotopes split a twin bill on Monday night at Smith's Ballpark. Bees starter Andrew Heaney (6-2) was knocked around in game one, giving up seven earned runs and issuing four walks and seven strikeouts, but with help from the offense, was able to capture his sixth win of the season in a 10-7 victory. The Bees took an early 2-0 edge before the Isotopes came back strong with a four-run third inning. Salt Lake responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning, outlasting the Isotopes for the win. The Salt Lake offense was powered by the Bees' first three-homerun game of the season, highlighted by Alex Yarbrough's first career Triple-A long ball and his first in 379 at-bats dating back to last year in Double-A.

Steven Hensley took the mound in game two, surrendering four earned runs in three innings of work in a 8-7 loss. Salt Lake again took the first lead of the game with two runs in the opening frame off a Marc Krauss two-RBI double, but were held off the scoreboard by Albuquerque pitching after that until the sixth. Down 8-3, the Bees attempted a comeback by scoring four runs on no hits, a wild pitch and a Salt Lake franchise record for walks in an inning with six in the seventh, but fell short. All Salt Lake batters took a free base in the loss with the exception of Ryan Jackson.
