Offensive Players of the Week

Here's a look at the top offensive performers in each league for the week ending July 5:

International League
Taylor Motter, Durham (TB)
(.556/.636/1.278, 5 G, 10-for-18, 4 2B, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 5 R, 4 BB, 2 K, 1 SB, 2 CS)
The 25-year-old has more than doubled his season output for home runs over the last week and a half, with three of those roundtrippers coming since June 29. The outfielder homered in three straight games from July 1-4, highlighting his week with a five-RBI outburst on July 2. Motter lifted his average to .315 on the season and also has 22 stolen bases in 28 attempts.

Pacific Coast League
Jamie Romak, Reno (ARI)
(.423/.500/.1.154, 7 G, 11-for-26, 2 2B, 3B, 5 HR, 11 RBI, 7 R, 4 BB, 11 K, SB)
After more than a decade in the Minors, Romak finally made his Major League debut last year with the Dodgers. This season, he's knocking on the door for a big league encore. After blasting five homers with the Aces last week, Romak now has 16 home runs in 79 games this season along with a .304/.381/.572 line. Romak's case for a Major League callup is backed by his defensive versatility, as he's played first, second, third, left and right field for the Aces this season.

Eastern League
Matt Skole, Harrisburg (WAS)
(.462/.516/.769, 7 G, 12-for-26, 5 2B, 1 HR, 8 RBI, 2 R, 4 BB, 3 K)
The 2011 fifth-rounder has been a known quantity in Washington's system since launching 27 homers for Class A Hagerstown in 2012. Injuries have slowed his march toward the Majors, but he's once again showcasing a powerful bat with the Senators, launching 11 roundtrippers in 74 games. Skole lifted his slugging percentage nearly 40 points last week and now boasts a .248/.347/.429 line overall.

Southern League
Patrick Leonard, Montgomery (TB)
(.500/.571/.833, 5 G, 9-for-18, 3 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 5 R, 3 BB, 5 K, 1 SB)
The second Ray to appear among this week's Players of the Week, Leonard is a 225-pound first baseman who had struggled to tap into his impressive raw power in game action earlier this year. He fixed that last week, launching two homers in his last six games and hitting .438 over his past 10. The 22-year-old was acquired from Kansas City in the James Shields trade following the 2012 season and has a .248/.331/.424 line in 69 games this season with the Biscuits.

Texas League
Alex Liddi, Northwest Arkansas (KC)
(.467/.556/.933, 4 G, 7-for-15, 1 2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 4 R, 3 BB, 4 K)
The 26-year-old San Remo, Italy, native has Major League experience and slugged like a big leaguer last week. He preceded the week with a two-homer game on June 28, then added two more big flies in the first four games of the Naturals' current road trip. Liddi has nine home runs for Northwest Arkansas this season, and his .295 average is his best at any level since he hit .345 in 129 games with Class A Advanced High Desert in 2009.

California League
Christian Arroyo, San Jose (SF)
(.500/.571/.875, 6 G, 12-for-24, 3 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 6 R, 4 BB, 6 K, 2 SB)
An oblique strain kept Arroyo out of action from April 16 until May 30, but the 20-year-old has been outstanding since he returned to the Giants. Arroyo is batting .327 with four homers in 37 games this year, managing an .874 OPS despite playing his home games in one of the California League's most pitcher-friendly confines. He collected five hits in one game then homered in the next two at Stockton last week. The five hits tied a team record and came after Arroyo worked with the San Jose coaching staff to shorten his swing.

Carolina League
Mauricio Ramos, Wilmington (KC)
(.565/.643/1.217, 6 G, 13-for-23, 3 2B, 4 HR, 10 RBI, 7 R, 4 BB, 4 K)
The Royals third baseman was on base seemingly all week for the Blue Rocks, and when he wasn't, it was often because he'd already touched them all on his way home. The 23-year-old recorded five straight multi-hit games, starting with a pair of three-hit contests at Frederick on June 29 and 30. He plated four runs in the June 29 game and then again July 3 against Lynchburg. For the season, Ramos is batting .294 with six homers and 32 RBIs.

Florida State League
Clint Coulter, Brevard County (MIL)
(.385/.452/.692, 7 G, 10-for-26, 5 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 6 R, 3 BB, 5 K)
Coulter emerged as one of the Florida State League's premier power hitters early in the season, slugging nine homers between April and May with an .802 OPS. He's cooled in the power department since, hitting just two homers across June and July, but he's continued to be effective for the Manatees. The outfielder is hitting .262 with 33 extra-base hits and an .812 OPS in 80 games with Brevard County on the year.

Midwest League
Dorssys Paulino, Lake County (CLE)
(.440/.533/.800, 7 G, 11-for-25, 1 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 6 R, 4 BB, 4 K, 2 SB, 1 CS)
The 20-year-old Indians prospect lifted his average from .238 to .255 with four multi-hit efforts last week, including a three-hit game at West Michigan on June 30. He capped his breakout week with a two-homer game on July 5, driving in three runs in an 8-5 win over Lansing. Paulino has six homers this year, which is already his highest output in three seasons with the Captains, and his .692 OPS is also his best yet in Class A.

South Atlantic League
Michael Suchy, West Virginia (PIT)
(.421/.500/.789, 6 G, 8-for-19, 1 2B, 2 HR, 10 RBI, 3 R, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 SB)
The 2014 fifth-rounder out of Florida Gulf Coast is a Bradenton native and hit last week like he's ready for a promotion to his hometown Class A Advanced Marauders. The 22-year-old outfielder homered in consecutive games at Kannapolis on July 1 and 2 and turned in three multi-hit efforts for the Power, lifting his season line to .280/.392/.449 in 67 contests. Suchy is listed at 6-foot-3, 228 pounds and has a brother -- Stephen Suchy -- who was a tight end at Tulane. Despite that size, Suchy can move -- he has six stolen bases in nine attempts on the year.

New York-Penn League
Drew Ferguson, Tri-City (HOU)
(.444/.545/.944, 6 G, 8-for-18, 3 2B, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 5 R, 4 BB, 2 K)
The Astros drafted Ferguson in the 19th round out of Tennessee's Belmont University this year, and he's off to a flying start with the ValleyCats. The 22-year-old outfielder slammed his first two professional homers during an 8-2 win over Vermont on July 1 and followed that up with a second straight three-hit game the next day. On the season, Ferguson is hitting .306 with twice as many walks (six) as strikeouts and six runs scored in 11 games.

Northwest League
Yonathan Daza, Boise (COL)
(.516/.559/.839, 7 G, 16-for-31, 4 2B, 2 HR, 9 RBI, 10 R, 3 BB, 3 K, 1 SB, 3 CS)
The Venezuelan 21-year-old opened the season with Class A Ashville but hit just .242 in 19 games. He found himself in Boise for opening day of the Class A Advanced Northwest League in June. He's been arguably the league's best hitter since, batting .418 with two homers and 14 RBIs in 16 games. Daza strung together six consecutive multi-hit games from June 28-July 3 and currently has a nine-game hitting streak for the Hawks.

Appalachian League
Connor Goedert, Greeneville (HOU)
(.545/.615/.909, 6 G, 12-for-22, 2 2B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 6 R, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 SB)
The third baseman was a 15th-round pick out of Neosho County Community College in Kansas in 2014 and has returned to Greeneville for a second straight year. After hitting .125 in 17 games with the Astros last year, Goedert is hitting .500 through 11 games this season, launching his first two professional home runs last week while setting career highs with four RBIs on June 30 and four hits on July 4. The Ottawa, Kansas, native leads the Appalachian League with 20 hits and is second with 13 RBIs.

Pioneer League
Reydel Medina, Billings (CIN)
(.448/.467/.966, 6 G, 13-for-29, 3 2B, 4 HR, 8 RBI, 9 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 2 SB)
The Reds signed the Cuban defector for $400,000 in 2013 and let him get his feet wet in the Rookie-level Arizona League last year. Now Medina has stepped out of the complex and is breaking out with the Mustangs, batting .327 with five homers and two stolen bases through 13 games. The 22-year-old turned in his best game as a pro July 3, homering three times and driving in five runs while going 4-for-6 in a 12-9, 14-inning loss to Helena. Medina followed with another homer in a 3-for-4 effort July 4 and has multiple hits in five of his past seven games.
