Shorebirds Unveil 2016 Giveaway Schedule
SALISBURY, Md. -- The Delmarva Shorebirds, Class A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are proud to announce a loaded giveaway schedule for the 2016 season. This year will feature 15 different items for fans to collect as they come through the gates at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on select dates.
Fans will be able to look forward to three bobblehead giveaways throughout the summer, beginning with a Ryan Minor bobblehead to the first 1,000 fans on May 13 presented by Dry-Tek Environmental. Minor has the most managerial wins in Shorebirds history and was a key player on the 1997 team that captured Delmarva's first South Atlantic League title.
The remaining bobbleheads scheduled for 2016 will immortalize two members of the 2011 Shorebirds who have gone on to become key pieces for the Orioles. The first 1,000 fans through the gates on July 8 will receive a Manny Machado bobblehead, while Aug. 19 will feature a Jonathan Schoop bobblehead giveaway to the first 1,000 entries. Fans will want to collect both bobbleheads, as they will feature uniquely shaped bases that can be put together and create the duo performing their trademark handshake.
For those in need of a new Shorebirds cap, Spicer Bros. Construction Inc. will once again present four cap giveaways to the first 500 fans on select Thursdays. Designs for this season include the Hat Madness-winning police design (May 26), black and orange (June 9), Maryland pride (July 21) and orange camo (Aug. 4).
Opening Weekend will feature a pair of promotional dates to kick off the season. The first 5,000 fans on Opening Night (April 14) will receive 2016 magnet schedules. On April 15, the Shorebirds will be giving out 1,000 jersey rally towels modeled after the new orange jerseys the team will wear for Friday home games in 2016.
A pair of poster giveaways are also scheduled for this season, as the first 1,000 fans on April 29 will receive a 2016 schedule poster. On July 24, the Shorebirds will be giving out 1,000 all-star posters courtesy of Delmarva Printing.
The Shorebirds and the Bank of Delmarva will once again be awarding cash to the first 1,000 fans on Aug. 5 during the second-annual Money Giveaway. Cash awards will begin at $1, and one lucky fan will win a grand prize of $500.
The final two weekends of the season will feature two unique items for fans to get their hands on. The first 1,000 fans on Aug 26 will receive an Orioles "Road to the Show" beach towel, while the Shorebirds' will hand out 1,000 door mats on Sept. 2.
