Victorino Added to Iowa's Roster

Des Moines, IA - Outfielder and 12-year major league veteran Shane Victorino is slated to join the Iowa Cubs in Omaha for tonight's game. Victorino, 35, signed a minor league contract with the Cubs in the offseason, but suffered a strained left calf during spring training and spent the first of the season rehabilitating. 

Victorino has a storied major league career and has collected a trophy case full of accolades. He won the World Series with the Phillies in 2008 and the Red Sox in 2013. In 2013, he drove in the game-winning run in all three deciding playoff games for Boston and is the only player to accomplish this feat in the same post-season run in history. He is a four-time Gold Glove winner (2008, 2009, 2010, 2013) and was named to the National League All-Star team in 2009 and 2011. 

Originally drafted by the Dodgers in the sixth round of the 2009 draft, Victorino additionally played in the Padres farm system and suited up in the bigs with Philadelphia, Los Angeles (NL and AL), and Boston.
