Davidson's Bombs Doom Durham

Charlotte Takes Series Opener, 8-3

Charlotte, NC --- Matt Davidson hit a pair of two-run homers, part of a three homer night for Charlotte as the Knights defeated the Durham Bulls 8-3 on Friday night at BB&T Ballpark.

Davidson hit an opposite-field two-run homer against Bulls starter Adam Wilk (L, 1-3) in the third inning, then took out reliever Dylan Floro with a man on in the seventh. Davidson, the reigning home run king in the International League, has six home runs, five off of Bulls pitching.

Durham (15-21) took a 1-0 lead in the second on a single by Kyle Roller to bring home Taylor Motter from second base. Motter had two of Durham's eight hits.

Wilk worked five innings, permitting five runs and eight hits to absorb the loss.

Mikie Mahtook appeared in his first game since injuring his oblique on April 19th, singling and walking twice in four plate appearances.

Jaff Decker homered off winning pitcher Jacob Turner (W, 3-1) in the fourth inning, his second of the season. Decker has hit both of his homers this season against Turner.

The Bulls will look to even the series Saturday night with Justin Marks (0-3, 3.48) opposing Chris Volstad (2-2, 3.72) at 6:05 PM ET.
