July 14, 2016

Kansas City Royals teammates and 2008 Idaho Falls Chukars alumni Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez each hit a second-inning home run to help score a win for the American League at the 2016 MLB All-Star Game in San Diego.

The last home run hit by a Royal in an All-Star Game was Bo Jackson in 1989, and the last time any set of teammates homered in the same inning of an All-Star Game was in 1975.

Hosmer, who singled in another run an inning later, topped off the night by winning the MVP award.

Other PBL alumni seeing action in the game were Edwin Encarnacion (Billings, 2008), Mark Trumbo (Orem, 2008), Carlos Gonzalez (Missoula, 2003), Jay Bruce (Billings, 2005), Nolan Arenado (Casper, 2009), Jonathon Lucroy (Helena, 2007), Paul Goldschmidt (Missoula, 2009), Wil Meyers (Idaho Falls, 2009) and Corey Seager (Ogden, 2012). Dexter Fowler (Casper, 2005), was injured and did not play.
