Nuts Fall in Rubber Game

Modesto, CA. - A couple of long balls doomed the Modesto Nuts in a 5-1 loss to the Bakersfield Blaze in the rubber game of a three-game set on Friday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

Tyler Marlette smashed a pair of home runs against Nuts (7-15; 33-59) starter Yency Almonte (L, 5-8). His first was a three-run shot in the second. He launched a two-run homer in the sixth accounting for all five runs against Almonte who worked six-plus innings with six strikeouts while allowing nine hits and walking two.

Osmer Morales (W, 2-2) was excellent in his start for the Blaze (17-5; 53-38). Morales worked six innings and surrendered five hits with just one run. Forrest Wall drove in the Nuts' lone run with a RBI fielder's choice in the fifth.
