Bulls Power Past Scranton, Move Into First Place

Motter, Shaffer, Robertson Homer; Durham Wins 8-4
July 21, 2016

Moosic, PA --- Richie Shaffer, Taylor Motter and Daniel Robertson each slugged home runs to lead Durham to an 8-4 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, sending the Bulls into first place in the South.

Durham (45-55) spotted the Rail Riders (61-38) a 4-0 lead after two innings before the offense went to work. Motter connected for a two-run shot in the third to draw Durham to within 4-3. Shaffer drilled a centerfield home run in the following inning to tie the game, then Robertson yanked a two-run shot inside the left field line to cap the rally.

The Bulls' win, parlayed with Charlotte's loss in Indianapolis, sent the Bulls into the South Division lead for the first time since April 25th.

Justin Marks (W, 4-9), who no-hit Syracuse on Saturday, tossed a perfect first inning before encountering a very long second inning. Marks surrendered four runs over 48 pitches with Scranton batting around. However, Marks steadied himself to pitch five innings to earn his second straight win.

Robertson finsihed the game with three hits, with Johnny Field driving in two runs.

The four-game series continues on Friday night at 7:05 PM ET with Jaime Schultz starting for Durham.
