Craig Anderson, Norfolk

After struggling in his first four starts in Triple-A this season, Craig Anderson proved why he belonged in the IL this week. In his lone outing -- on lucky Friday the 13th -- the Australian native stymied the Ottawa Lynx, going seven innings without surrendering a run. The southpaw scattered five hits and two walks while fanning five. Anderson's performance dropped his Triple-A ERA just over a point, from 4.56 to 3.52.

Pacific Coast League
Rick Vanden Hurk, Albuquerque
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 6.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 12 SO
In just his second start in Triple-A, Rick Vanden Hurk showed why he's earned the nickname the "Holland Hammer." The Dutch native, who pitched in the 2007 Futures Game in San Francisco, threw six innings of one-hit ball vs. New Orleans in the Isotopes 10-3 win over the Zephyrs. The Holland Hammer struck out a career-high 12 batters at the gaudy clip of two per inning.

Eastern League
Justin Masterson, Portland
2-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 12.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 16 SO
Justin Masterson had big spikes to fill last week, when he got the call to replace phenom Clay Buchholz in the Portland rotation. But the shoe definitely fit, as Masterson, a top prospect himself, exceeded expectations. The Kingston, Jamaica, native pitched a pair of gems, allowing just three hits and three walks over 12 2/3 total innings. Masterson's 16 strikeouts and 0.00 ERA led the Eastern League for the week.

Southern League
Jack Egbert, Birmingham
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 13 SO
After allowing three walks, two hits and four earned runs in the Southern League All-Star Game on July 9, Jack Egbert rebounded sharply this week, showing why he's one of the league's best pitchers. Egbert made Friday the 13th unlucky for Jacksonville as he led Birmingham to a 5-0 victory. The 24-year-old allowed just two hits over seven innings without issuing a walk, retiring 12 straight batters at one point. Egbert struck out a career-high 13, and the Rutgers University product ranks second in the SL with 114 strikeouts. This is Egbert's second POW award of the season.

Texas League
Miguel Gonzalez, Arkansas
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 1 CG, 1 SHO, 9.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 3 K
Miguel Gonzalez entrenched himself in the Travelers' rotation this week. After beginning the year in the bullpen, Gonzalez has put together a string of solid starts, topping them all with this week's outing. The native of Guadalajara, Mexico, hurled a complete game shutout win, 7-0, against the Drillers on Wednesday. Gonzalez, who earned his fourth victory in five decisions, allowed just three hits while fanning three and walking three. Gonzalez is now 5-3 and leads the TL with a 2.80 ERA.

California League
Andrew Walker, Bakersfield
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 1 CG, 1 SHO, 9.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 13 SO
Andrew Walker had struggled this season, failing to hold any opponent to two runs or fewer in 17 previous starts. This week, though, things seemed to go the right-hander's way. In his lone start on Friday, Walker came up with a complete-game four-hit shutout. The Long Beach, Calif., native struck out a career-high 13 batters and did not issue a walk. In the process, Walker lowered his ERA to 5.37.

Carolina League
Kyle Bloom, Lynchburg
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 8.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 5 SO
Kyle Bloom had his best outing of the season this week, surprising his Frederick hosts. The right-hander threw a season-high eight innings of shutout ball as his Hillcats pounded the Keys, 11-1. Bloom scattered three hits and allowed three walks while fanning five. Before this start, the Illinois native had struggled away from home. His road ERA is now 6.28, while his home ERA is an impressive 1.43.

Florida State League
Phil Coke, Tampa

Brett Sinkbeil, Jupiter

The FSL had so many quality mound outings this week, the league couldn't name just one Pitcher of the Week. Phil Coke tossed his first career shutout on Saturday, a complete game against St. Lucie in which he struck out five and walked one. The southpaw lowered his ERA from 3.07 to 2.55. Brett Sinkbeil also threw a complete-game shutout, the longest outing of his career. The right-hander allowed just five hits and a walk while fanning four at Fort Myers.

Midwest League
Omar Poveda, Clinton
1-0, 1.29 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 7.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 12 SO
Omar Poveda has been outstanding all year for the LumberKings, and this week was no different. The native of Turmero, Venezuela, in one of his best outings of the season, went seven innings and allowed just one run. The right-hander matched his season-high 12 strikeouts while allowing just three hits and a walk. Poveda ranks fourth in the MWL in ERA (2.41) and fifth in innings pitched (100.2).

South Atlantic League
Heath Rollins, Columbus
2-0, 0.69 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 13.0 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 10 SO
After struggling in June, Heath Rollins seems to have re-established his groove in July. Rollins was stellar in two outings this week. On Monday, he went six innings without surrendering a run, allowing five hits and three walks while fanning five. The 22-year-old Florence, S.C., native topped that on Sunday with a three-hit, one-run performance in which he struck out seven over seven innings.

New York-Penn League
Guillermo Moscoso, Oneonta
2-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 1 CG, 1 SHO, 15.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 14 SO
Guillermo Moscoso was perfect on Sunday. The Maracay, Venezuela, native struck out seven and pitched the second nine-inning perfect game in New York-Penn League history, as Oneonta beat Batavia, 6-0. It was 27 up, 27 down for Moscoso. The right-hander must have just been tuning up on Monday, when he struck out seven over six innings while allowing only three hits. Moscoso has yet to lose in five NYPL starts and ranks sixth in the league with a 1.78 ERA.

Northwest League
Nolan Gallagher, Everett
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 7.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO
Despite pitching well for Everett this season, Nolan Gallagher had just a loss and several no-decisions to show for it. But the Stanford, Calif., native came up with his best outing so far on Saturday, shutting out the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes over seven innings to pick up his first win. Gallagher scattered four hits and did not issue a walk while striking out four. The 22-year-old right-hander leads the NWL with a nifty 0.96 ERA.

Appalachian League
Jose Ortegano, Danville
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 6.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO
Jose Ortegano was outstanding this week. In his lone start, the native of Venezuela worked six no-hit innings before giving way to relievers. The teen-age southpaw (he turns 20 on Aug. 5) issued just one walk while whiffing four and is now 2-0 with a 1.09 ERA after five appearances.

Pioneer League
Esmerlin Jimenez, Orem
1-0, 0.82 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 11.0 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 SO
After struggling a week ago, Esmerlin Jimenez got himself back on track quickly. The Dominican native (Santo Domingo) struck out four over six scoreless innings Monday to notch his first victory. On Saturday, the 22-year-old right-hander did surrender a run during his five innings of work, but ultimately lowered his ERA from 5.71 to 3.81 with the two stellar starts.
