IronPigs Set Attendance Record in 2012

September 3, 2012
A record-setting 688,821 fans visited Coca-Cola Park during the 2012 season - making it the most frequented venue in Minor League Baseball for a third consecutive season. In fact, the IronPigs are the only Minor League franchise to eclipse 600,000 in attendance for each of the last five campaigns. The 9,153 per-game average for the club's official 72 home games is also tops among all Minor League franchises and marks the fourth straight season the IronPigs have averaged over 9,000 fans per game.

"For a fifth consecutive season, our fans have made Coca-Cola Park the ultimate family-friendly and affordable destination in the Lehigh Valley," exclaimed IronPigs General Manager Kurt Landes. "Our success has been defined by their enthusiasm. We can't wait to welcome each and every one of our fans back to Coca-Cola Park next April and we promise to have even more fun and excitement planned for 2013!"

Since 2008, the IronPigs have now drawn 3,207,049 fans to Minor League Baseball's flagship ballpark and averaged 9,034 per game - a number that drastically exceeds Coca-Cola Park's fixed seating capacity of 8,089. Every seat in the ballpark has been sold for 293 of the 355 all-time regular season games - including 32 consecutive games and 64 of 76 during the 2012 season -- with 93 all-time capacity crowds.

The IronPigs were scheduled to host a record 80 games this season due to renovations at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's PNC Field but were limited to 76 dates because of rain. The 688,821 attendance mark reflects the addition of eight Scranton/Wilkes-Barre "home" games played at Coca-Cola Park against the IronPigs.

Coca-Cola Park and the Lehigh Valley IronPigs have received numerous honors and distinctions since 2008, including Ballpark Digest's "Ballpark of the Year" award and "Best Game Operations and Presentation" award as chosen by gameops.com.

Coca-Cola Park debuted in 2008 and became an overnight sensation and drew rave reviews for its intimacy, fan-friendly atmosphere and architectural design. Furthermore, FoxNews.com recently ranked Lehigh Valley IronPigs fans as the best fans in all of Minor League Baseball.

The IronPigs open the 2013 season at Coca-Cola Park on April 4, 2013 at 7:05 p.m. against the Syracuse Chiefs. Those interested in purchasing a new ticket plan can call (610) 841-PIGS (7447) to place their deposit, starting at just $40 per seat for 18-game plans and $100 per seat for full-season ticket packages. Seat selection for new plan holders will take place this fall and is based on purchase date, the type of plan purchased and availability. Existing plan holders should have already received information on renewing their plans for the 2013 season. Single game tickets will go on sale Saturday, March 2, 2013 during the annual National Pig Day celebration at Coca-Cola Park.

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs are dedicated to providing family-friendly entertainment and are the only Minor League team to offer bubbles to fans entering the AT&T Plaza and balloons for all children exiting Coca-Cola Park.
