Schrum Returns to Wilmington Front Office

New Assistant Director of Marketing Spent Three Years With Blue Rocks From '08-'10
January 7, 2013

Wilmington, DE- Making his triumphant return to the Riverfront, Jake Schrum has rejoined the Wilmington Blue Rocks front office as the team's Assistant Director of Marketing. Schrum spent the 2008 season with the Blue Rocks as a Game Day Marketing Assistant and was a member of the team's seasonal full-time staff in both 2009 (as a community relations assistant) and 2010 (publications and promotions assistant).

The '08 graduate of West Virginia University spent the last two years in Ohio, as the Lake County Captains' promotions manager. With the Captains, Schrum's duties included advertising sales, graphic design, video production and game entertainment direction.

In 2013, fans can expect to see Schrum plenty at Frawley Stadium. The man that many patrons dubbed a dead-ringer for actor Rob Lowe during his first stint with the team, will co-host the Blue Rocks in-game promotions with Marketing Director Joe Valenti.

The recently married 26-year-old said he returned to the first state for two reasons.

"I came back because we wanted to be closer to family, but also because this is such a wonderful organization to be a part of," Schrum said. "The fans and staff are top notch and there is no better place in Minor League Baseball to call home."

Blue Rocks general manager Chris Kemple said bringing Schrum back to Wilmington was a real coup for the organization.

"Jake is a versatile young man," Kemple said. "He has worked in our marketing, promotions and publications departments, so he is obviously capable of a great deal of things. I think fans are really going to enjoy the job he and Joe Valenti will do with game-entertainment between innings this season."

The Blue Rocks begin their 2013 season on April 5 in Myrtle Beach. After a six-game road trip, the Rocks return to Wilmington for the home opener on Friday, April 12 at 7:05 p.m. Group tickets and mini plans for the 2013 campaign are on sale now by visiting bluerocks.com.
