Javs & Savage Storm Take Day 1
Dallas Ponder carried a no-hitter through five innings Friday night as Texas A&M-Kingsville knocked off St. Cloud State 2-0, closing out the opening round of the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach South Texas Baseball Classic at Whataburger Field.
Ponder (2-0) held the Huskies (0-1) to three hits, walking one while striking out seven. Denver Diefenbach fashioned two frames of shutout relief to earn his second save of the season. The Javelinas (4-1) scored both of their runs in the fifth via RBI singles by Cash Barker and Ben Villafuerte

In Friday's opener, Southeastern Oklahoma State (2-0) scored three times in the seventh to break a stalemate and surge past Loyola-New Orleans 9-6.
The Savage Storm's top six batters each drove in at least one run, with Tucker Alexander and Troy McCartney netting a pair of RBIs. Levi Lewis notched the victory, blanking the Wolf Pack (3-6) thru three innings of relief.
