Rattlers double team TV schedule

Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, My NEW32 to air 32 games
February 18, 2013
GRAND CHUTE, Wisc. -- The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have teamed up with a pair of television outlets to broadcast a record number of games during the 2013 season. Time Warner Cable SportsChannel has 17 games scheduled and WACY-TV My NEW32 plans to show 15 games for a total of 32 Timber Rattlers home games that will be available on television this year.

Time Warner Cable SportsChannel continues as a television partner of the defending Midwest League champions. The channel -- formerly known as Sports32 -- is set to show 17 games during the regular season. These games will be available state-wide to Time Warner Cable subscribers. Time Warner Cable has broadcast Timber Rattlers games since 2007.

The first game on their schedule is the 2013 home opener at newly renovated Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium when the Rattlers host the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Mon, April 8. Timber Rattlers Field Pass, a half-hour show that goes inside the Rattlers clubhouse for player interviews, coaching tips and behind the scene features, also returns for another season on the channel. Time Warner Cable SportsChannel will handle the broadcasts of any Timber Rattlers home playoff games in 2013.

My NEW32 is the new television partner of the Rattlers. They are scheduled to show 15 games this season as part of their Sports Showdown broadcasts. All Timber Rattlers broadcasts on My NEW32 will include a 30-minute pregame show. My NEW32 is available as an over the air channel to northeast Wisconsin and on channel 13 to Time Warner Cable subscribers. The debut of the Timber Rattlers on My NEW32 is scheduled for Wed, April 10 against the Kernels.

"The Timber Rattlers are excited to be able to grow the number of games seen live on television in 2013 and we hope to continue this in the future with the eventual possibility of adding away games," said Timber Rattlers president, Rob Zerjav. "Time Warner Cable SportsChannel has been a tremendous partner for the Timber Rattlers allowing our games to be shown not only in northeastern Wisconsin, but into the Milwaukee market as well. We look forward to our new relationship with My NEW32, and hope these two partnerships will allow the Timber Rattlers fans that cannot attend each game, the opportunity to catch the Brewers prospects from the comfort of their own homes."

Time Warner Cable SportsChannel has aired professional, college and high school sporting events along with a variety of talk shows and programs about Wisconsin sports since it went on the air in January of 2007.

"We are delighted to extend our multi-year relationship with the Timber Rattlers," said Mark Strachota, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel's general manager. "Time Warner Cable SportsChannel is committed to broadcasting the best in local sports programming to our viewers in eastern Wisconsin with Timber Rattler games and Field Pass being an integral part of our summer lineup."

WACY broadcasts a variety of college and high school sports including football, basketball and hockey as part of their Sports Showdown. MyNEW32 is also the northeastern Wisconsin home of the Boys' and Girls' State Basketball Tournament broadcasts. They also show popular syndicated programs such as The Simpsons, The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men.

"We are very excited to be partnering with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers," said Joe Poss, vice president and general manager of My NEW32. "They are a quality baseball franchise and are a great addition to our Showdown series. We look forward to a long and growing relationship."
