Storm win in Headley's final rehab in Elsinore

April 16, 2013

Lake Elsinore, CA-On a chilly Tuesday in Lake Elsinore, and on a night San Diego Padres' Chase Headley's final rehab game with the Storm, the team reached double figures in runs and hits in a 10-1 victory over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

Storm starter Matt Wisler earned his first victory and allowed his first earned run in 15 innings of work. Storm reliever Dennis O'Grady struck out five in two innings of work while relievers Matt Lollis and Cody Hebner combined to strike out five in the final two frames to preserve the win for Wisler, the 2012 Padres Minor League Pitcher of the Year.

Wisler allowed a two out RBI single in the second, but that would be all the Quakes would get, on a night where Rancho committed seven errors defensively.

The Storm would tie things up in the second on a Kyle Gaedele double off the left field center wall and a two-out RBI double by Lee Orr that evened the score. Orr became the first Storm player this season to collect four hits in a game this season, going 4-for-5 with two singles, a double and a triple to pace the Strom attack.

The Storm took the lead for good in the third inning by scoring an unearned run. Catcher Austin Hedges led off the fourth with a drive over the left field wall for his hit first home run of the season. The home team added one more in the fourth on Orr's triple to left center followed by Travis Jankowski's RBI single up the middle that gave the Storm a 4-1 lead.

Lake Elsinore added five runs in the seventh and one more in the eighth to win 10-1 for the second time in four games.

Padres All-Star third baseman and former Storm All-Star, Chase Headley, started in his fourth rehab game and his third consecutive at third base. Headley went 1-for-3 with a single and finished 3-for-12 on his return to The Diamond.

Los Angeles Dodgers LHP Ted Lilly continued his rehab assignment for the Quakes and for the second consecutive time, the Storm were victorious against him, slugging out a total of 10 runs on 12 hits, including four runs and six hits off of Lilly.

Tomorrow's pitching matchup includes Storm LHP Frank Garces against Quakes RHP Robbie Gould.

The final game of the opening home stand will be a Wacky Weenie Wednesday/ Wine Down Wednesday where fans can enjoy FREE hotdogs through the seventh innings and enjoy Temecula Winery wine tastings in the Diamond Club restaurant with a 6:05 p.m. game start.
