Pirates' Taillon hurt in Curve loss
Jameson Taillon took a line drive off his left leg in the fouth inning and was removed from the game in Double-A Altoona's 13-2 loss to Harrisburg on Tuesday
The Pirates' No. 2 prospect completed a season-low three innings, allowing four runs -- two earned -- on seven hits while falling to 2-4 for the Curve. After walking Sandy Leon to open the fourth, Rick Hague singled off the hurler's shin.
The Florida native was diagnosed with a shin contusion and was removed primarily as a precaution. Taillon, who has lost three straight Eastern League starts for the Curve, has a 3.24 ERA in 38 2/3 innings while fanning 39 batters.
"Well, the sun is gonna rise tomorrow. Back at it," Taillon said on Twitter.
Jimmy Von Ostrand was 4-for-5 with a homer and five RBIs, falling a triple shy of the cycle for the Senators. Anthony Rendon, the Nationals' top prospect, doubled and scored twice.
Nathan Karns, Washington's No. 6 prospect, fanned eight and allowed two runs -- one earned -- on two hits over five innings to improve to 3-1 for Harrisburg.
Andrew Lambo homered for the sixth time this season for the Curve.
