Charlotte blanks Clippers, earn DH split
The Clippers' bats were silenced by four Charlotte pitchers as they helped the Knights secured a doubleheader split with a 1-0 shutout of Columbus at Knights Stadium.
Like game one, the Knights drew first blood on the scoreboard with a Steve Tolleson RBI single in the bottom of the second. That would be the only form of offense in this game. The combination of Tony Pena, Daniel Moskos, Dan Remenowsky, and David Purcey blanked the Clippers on two hits. Moskos (W 2-1) got the win for Charlotte. Purcey (S, 2) picked up another save for the Knights. T.J. House (L, 1-6) pitched well for Columbus, limiting the Knights to one run on six hits while striking out six and not walking a batter.
Charlotte and Columbus will continue their series on Saturday night. The Clippers will go with righty Danny Salazar (0-1, 5.12). The Knights will have right-hander Zach Stewart (3-8, 5.17) get the start on the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 PM.
