Rienzo hurls eight strong frames

No. 9 White Sox prospect Andre Rienzo gave up just one run over eight frames, but it wasn't enough for Triple-A Charlotte as the Knights fell, 3-1, in 10 innings Tuesday.

Rienzo scattered five hits and struck out five without walking a batter. It was his longest start in the International League to date. The right-hander is 5-6 with a 4.71 ERA.

Toronto farmhand Dave Bush struck out nine over six innings for the Bisons. He gave up a run on four hits and a walk.

Ramon Hernandez, who was released by the Dodgers on June 22 and signed with the Blue Jays eight days later, delivered his second RBI in three IL games.

Junior Lake, the Cubs' No. 9 prospect, tripled twice, doubled and scored twice in Iowa's 6-2 win over Memphis.

Lake hadn't previously tripled this year and his three-hit performance broke up a 5-for-36 skid.

Cubs' No. 12 prospect Jae-Hoon Ha doubled and scored, and Donnie Murphy homered, doubled, plated two and scored twice.

Brock Peterson hit his Pacific Coast League-leading 20th home run and Cardinals' No. 3 prospect Kolten Wong added his seventh PCL triple.

Michael Wacha struck out nine over 5 1/3 innings. The Cardinals' fourth-ranked prospect fell to 4-2 and his ERA rose to 2.71 after he gave up four runs on eight hits and a walk.

Vic Black, the Pirates' No. 15 prospect, picked up his 13th save in 14 opportunities as Indianapolis edged Louisville, 4-1. Black hit Reds' No. 9 prospect Henry Rodriguez, but threw a scoreless ninth. His ERA stands at 2.25.

Stolmy Pimentel improved to 1-1 with a 2.18 ERA in picking up the win for the Indians. He gave up a run on two hits and struck out two over seven innings.

Alex Pressley and Jared Goedert each had three hits for Indianapolis.

Cincinnati farmhand Chad Reineke gave up two runs while striking out seven over six innings for the loss.

Denis Phipps homered for Louisville.

Nate Tenbrink went 4-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored in Tacoma's 10-4 victory over Colorado Springs. Tenbrink was caught stealing for the fifth time in 15 attempts.

Rich Poythress had two doubles and a single, plated two runs and scored once. Mariners' No. 9 prospect Stefen Romero reached twice and also scored. He's crossed the plate in each of his last three games.
