Gwinnett Shuts Out Bulls, 2-0

July 6, 2013

Lawrenceville, GA --- Kameron Loe and three Gwinnett relievers combined on a four-hit shutout over the Durham Bulls on Saturday night.

The Bulls, who were blanked for just the fourth time this season, saw Ryan Roberts collect two of their hits, but were shackled most of the steamy, rainy evening at Coolray Field.

With the game scoreless in the third, Mike Montgomery (L, 4-3) allowed a one-out triple to Phil Gosselin, then an infield single by Sean Kazmar to give Gwinnett a 1-0 lead.

As the rain began to fall in the fifth, Montgomery issued a two-out walk before Kazmar doubled home his second run of the game. The game was delayed by 51 minutes after the Braves went up 2-0.

Loe (W, 3-2), who was a member of the 2011 Milwaukee Breweres divisional title team, worked five innings to earn the victory.

The Bulls' loss, coupled with Norfolk's win at Charlotte, trimmed Durham's South Division lead to 6 1/2 games.

The game was the first meeting between the South Division rivals since the second week of April, when the Bulls won three games at the DBAP.

The Bulls' brief 2-game series against the Braves wraps up Sunday at 5:05 PM ET with Merrill Kelly making the start.
